Short description: After decades of steadfast resilience, Arie Weiss, a Holocaust survivor relapses into childhood trauma when Haruka, a Japanese caregiver moves in with him. Arie’s powerless situation and his dependency on a none-Jew causes repressed memories of the war to resurface which lead him to mistrust Haruka. Through their struggles to trust and accept one another, this poetic tale explores the compassion and empathy that can flourish between two strangers of different cultures but of a similar pain.

Reżyser: Maya Ben Yair jest pisarką, reżyserką i montażystką urodzoną i wychowaną w Izraelu. Odbyła służbę wojskową jako główna montażystka video w Jednostce Filmowej Izraelskich Sił Obronnych. Ben Yair przeniosła się do Los Angeles, by studiować w Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television; otrzymała tam stopień licencjacki z wyróżnieniem z produkcji filmowej i telewizyjnej oraz pisania scenariuszy. Podczas pobytu na Zachodnim Wybrzeżu, napisała i wyreżyserowała kilka bardzo dobrze przyjętych filmów krótkometrażowych. Director: Maya Ben Yair is a writer, director, and editor born and raised in Israel. She served as Chief Video Editor at the IDF Film Unit, working around the clock in one of Israel’s most creative and prestigious military units. Ben Yair relocated to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A in Film and Television Production, and Screenwriting. While living on the west coast, she has written and directed several award nominated short films. She currently works as an editor while simultaneously developing her directorial feature debut.
