Streszczenie: Grupa kobiet przygotowuje się do występu. „Wyprostuj się! Obrót! Stop! Uśmiech! Ukłon!” – komenderuje choreografka. Czuć narastające napięcie, nerwów nie uspokaja ani podstawiona limuzyna, ani sala wypełniona po brzegi elegancką, choć trochę znudzoną, publicznością. Zobaczcie konkurs piękności, do którego wstępna selekcja odbyła się niemal 80 lat temu.

Short description: A group of women prepares for an event. Stand straight! Turn around! Stop! Smile! Bow! – commands the choreographer. There is a lot of tension and nervousness in the air. The nerves will be calmed neither by a fancy limo, nor by a room full of chic yet a bit bored audience. Please watch a beauty pageant, the pre-selection to which took place almost 80 years ago.

Reżyser: Michalina Musielak – antropolożka wizualna, dokumentalistka. Studiowała dokumentalistykę na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim, oraz – jako stypendystka Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich – Liberal Arts na uniwersytecie w Tel Awiwie. Na warszawskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych obroniła dyplom w pracowni Działań Przestrzennych Mirosława Bałki. Od 2017 roku studiuje antropologię wizualną i medialną na Freie Universität w Berlinie. Jej prace pokazywane były m.in. w Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie. Najnowszy film dokumentalny Miss Holocaust miał premierę na festiwalu Berlinale 2017 w konkursie filmów krótkometrażowych.

Director: Michalina Musielak – a visual artist and documentary filmmaker based in Warsaw, Poland. Musielak studied Documentary Studies at the University of Warsaw and Liberal Arts at the Tel Aviv University. She received her master’s degree in New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and is continuing her studies at the M.A. program in Visual and Media Anthropology at Freie Universitat in Berlin. She has worked on exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Her latest documentary film Miss Holocaust premiered at the Berlinale Short competition 2017.
